STUDENT AND PARENT/CARER SUPPORT
My name is Alison Jackson and I am the student parent/carer support officer. I have a wide and varied role within in school.
On of my main aims is to establish and maintain a positive relationship between the home, school and the local community by:
being a contact in school to offer advice/ information, or to signpost you to access others who may be able to help. This includes assistance with education bureaucracy, EHC plans and parent views, agencies and financial support including claiming free school meals, filling in forms e.g. EHA , PIP and Social Care Funding.
providing information and explanations about the curriculum , school policies and practices
supporting you on visits to other agencies or schools.
sourcing and managing appropriate training and advice for parents e.g. Triple P, SRE, understanding ASD and ADHD.
arranging social events to enable you to meet other parents / carers.
listening to parents and community groups and represent their view to the school
establishing links with community groups in the locality
In terms of specific support for students areas include:
organising relevant work experience for students
applying for grant funding to enhance student learning experiences and improve student facilities
arranging out of school clubs
supporting teachers with residential experience including grant funding.
