Performing Arts

The Performing Arts play a key role in the personal development of our students. The skills and qualities developed by our young people, such as teamwork, creativity, leadership and risk-taking are essential in all subjects and all areas of life. Drama stimulates the imagination and allows students to explore issues and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. At Collingwood, we create an atmosphere of security, and trust promoting self-esteem and fostering a sense of pride and achievement, regardless of academic ability.

All young people receive the opportunity to access to performing arts through our Collingwood Arts Network calendar of events attending performances and workshops with a wide range of Arts Partners, including Ballet Lorent, Bare Toed Dance, Aukestra, Little Movers and many more. They have the opportunity to perform in musical productions, dance performances and regular school shows, and have access to a professional-standard film/recording studio. We strive to take performance into the community, through our choir and Performing Arts groups, who have performed in public spaces, churches and theatres.

The curriculum is delivered by a dedicated, highly qualified team, delivering lessons in Music, Dance, Theatre and Media in specialist classrooms and young people can access accreditation in the form of WJEC Entry Pathways and Arts Award.
